Tim Tebow: Why Bidding $100,000 to Spend Day with Jets Star Isn’t Crazy
That’s what a woman bid at an auction to win a day with Tebow and help his charitable foundation, according to the Florida Times-Union.
“It was incredible,” Tebow said. “It’s humbling. You don’t feel worthy, but when people care about your cause and know that you’re trying to do something for other people, it’s amazing to see what can happen.”
The woman will share her day with Tebow alongside some underprivileged kids.
“They live in a part of town that has a lot of people in need and a lot of people with a lot of wealth,” said Erik Dellenback, the executive director for the Tim Tebow Foundation.
“She felt that bringing Timmy to her town down there would maybe change the town. She cleared it with Timmy and it sounds like she’s going to have a little event where she brings some of the kids who are in need and some of the kids who are deserving.”
Spending $100,000 to spend a day with any professional athlete may sound crazy, but when you do that to help those in need, there’s nothing crazy about it.
Whether or not you like Tebow, it is impossible not to admire his passion for helping the community and making a difference in kids’ lives.
These kids will never forget spending a day with Tebow and the memories they share will affect them for the rest of their lives.
Many NFL players do work in the community and either run or contribute to charities, but few players care as much as Tebow to help kids and others in need.
Professional athletes have a unique ability to brighten the lives of so many people who are struggling, but unfortunately, few athletes use this influence as much as they could to positively affect the lives of many.
Tebow not only does a lot of charitable work, he enjoys doing it and wants to make a difference. You have to commend Tebow for this passion to help people who look up to him.
