Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt or New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks Was Once an Argument, Now it is a No Brainer
Back in the off season after the 2008 season, the consensus was that the Giants needed to draft a wide receiver with the 28th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. The debate centered around Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Britt, with the assumption that Michael Crabtree and Darius Heyward-Bey were going to be gone by then.
After the Giants selected Hakeem Nicks with the 29th pick, the Tennessee Titans selected Kenny Britt with the 30th pick, and the debate began as to whether the Giants took the right guy.
Britt seemingly had the more upside and would be the better option to replace Plaxico Burress since he was the taller of the two receivers by a couple of inches. Both had tremendous skills and were terrific collegiate athletes, so at the time it was difficult to tell who would have the better career.
I was on the Nicks bandwagon after seeing his huge hands (he wears size 5X gloves!) and how many catches he was able to get in traffic.
