Move Over Brady, Welker Eyes His Own Records
Move over Tom Brady because wide receiver Wes Welker eyes his own NFL records as here we are, four games into the 2011-2012 season with speculation running rampant every week about a different player on pace for shattering an old record. There’s no doubt that the NFL has turned into an offensive heavy league. The quarterbacks each year seem to have new rules in place to protect them from serious injuries and each team, with only a few exceptions, employs a two-headed running attack rather than featuring one main running-back. That and the ticky-tack pass-interference rules allows even the most average quarterbacks putting up MVP caliber numbers here in the early goings (see Fitzpatrick, Ryan for example.) Wes Welker currently sits at 40 receptions and 616 yards, averaging an absurd 10 catches and 154 yards per game.
